A FAMILY from Dumfries will be gathering on the sofa in front of their TV tonight to watch their nephew/cousin sing his heart out on Take That Star Garry Barlow’s ‘LET IT SHINE’ talent competition.
22 year old Anthony Sahota will be featured on ‘Let it Shine’ tonight Saturday 28th January on BBC1 at 7pm.
Anthony is competing for a place in Gary Barlow’s new boy band. The Band will win a year’s contract to perform in the West end and go on a Nationwide tour in a Musical performing the hits of Take That.
Anthony Sahota has lots of family in Dumfries, where his mum Caroline Sahota (previously Hamid) used to live. Anthony’s uncles Albert, William and Abi Hamid and cousin Elkie Hamid Astley are all from Dumfries and have been supporting Anthony in his auditions for the show .
Anthony is a talented young man who’s passion lies in music and he plays both the drums and guitar and loves to sing and record new tracks. Anthony now lives in Southampton but regularly visits his family in Dumfries.
Cousin Caroline contacted DGWGO and said ” Please can you help support Anthony in the show? His family in Dumfries are all so very proud and excited. We are doing everything we can to raise awareness of his appearance on the show and getting a mention on DGWGO would be amazing.”
She went on to say “The more publicity he gets the more chances of votes if he progresses in the competition. I’m hoping Dumfries will be rooting for Anthony. ”
The Let it Shine TV programme Stars judges Gary Barlow, Dannii Minogue, Martin Kemp and guest judge Amber Riley, and presenters Graham Norton and Mel Giedroyc.
Over eight weeks of competition, started at 7pm on Saturday 7 January on BBC One, Let It Shine is searching for five talented boys to form a band and perform the songs of Take That, in a brand new show touring the UK from late 2017. The judges are looking for a band that exudes the charisma, showmanship and stage presence that Take That became so famous for.
Let It Shine will welcome guest judges in each of the three stages of the competition. Musical theatre star Amber Riley, joins the first audition stage (episodes one-four), superstar Lulu, who last Friday January the 20th performed in Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries and Galloway joins the second stage.
