As Stranraer RNLI Parkfest prepares to go live this evening it’s time for bilge pumps, full waterproofs, umbrellas and wellies on, a typical Friday in August, it can only mean one thing, it must be a festival in Scotland in late Summer.
The work started earlier this week in Agnew Park in Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway as the RNLI Crew, committee and Council workers strive to get the field ready for tonight’s (August 19th) launch of the Fifth annual Young Guns night and Seventh Stranraer RNLI Park Fest main event tomorrow.
One of the optimistic organisers told DGWGO “The forecast (if you can believe them) says it’s to clear up throughout the day with light showers over the next 24- 48 hrs , this we can deal with. The inside of the tent is dry and the stage is set, disco ball included, for what looks to be another fantastic festival in aid of the RNLI.”
Tonight’s Youngs Guns headliner, Local Portpatrick lad ‘Scope’ looks to showcase his new music to his home crowd after successful performances at T in the Park earlier in the year and to a 12,000 strong crowd at YouthBeatz Dumfries last weekend.
Saturday night Headliner X Factor 2014 Winner ‘Ben Haenow’ has caused quite a stir with fans flocking from all over the UK to this corner of South West Scotland to see him perform, just a quick look at the world of social media and the excitement flying around twitter with his Haeniacs show that the Stranraer RNLI Park Fest crowds are in for a treat.
For somewhere dry and warm to hide from the elements you would be hard pressed to find better entertainment this weekend anywhere in the UK.
