Labours Of Love Performance Comes To St George’s Hall

Fledgling Musical Theatre Company are preparing to Wow Dumfries with their production of Labours of Love, back by popular demand and with new material for 2024!

First performed in 2019, this original musical, composed and directed by local midwife Ren Forteath, is set largely in a maternity hospital and follows the stories of five women as they journey through pregnancy to motherhood, their partners and families, and the staff who work in the hospital.

There is joy and laughter, romance, intrigue, tragedy and heartbreak – this show is a roller-coaster of emotions so bring a good supply of Kleenex as well as your dancing shoes; some of the songs are guaranteed to have you tapping your feet and shimmying in your chairs! With musical numbers from every genre from soul and rock to gospel, ballad and pop, there’s bound to be something for everyone’s tastes. After spectacular reviews following our 2019 performances, we are excited to bring you what we hope will be an even better show this time around.

The show will run from 4th – 7th of September at St George’s Church Hall, George street, Dumfries. Weekday performances 7:30pm, Saturday matinee 2:30pm (doors open 30 mins prior to curtain up).

Tickets are on sale now from The Midsteeple Box Office, Dumfries, and online at https://www.dgboxoffice.co.uk for £10 each (£8 concession – student or OAP – this show is not suitable for children due to potentially upsetting content.) They will also be available on the door, however we advise buying now to avoid disappointment.
