Loreburn Hall has been unveiled as the home of a new pop-up cinema bringing monthly film screenings to the region for an initial test period of 11 months as the team behind ‘Big Burns Supper’ are granted use of the council owned premises rent free until February 2023.
The Dumfries venue will host an 80-seat sofa cinema experience where audiences can relax in a stylish setting while enjoying a cold beer or other refreshments.
The cinema will be run in collaboration with support company INDY cinema.
Allison McLellan, Head of Operations at Big Burns Supper, said:
“We are excited to be bringing the Loreburn Hall back to public use, and our new pop-up cinema project will help give our community access to even more culture on top of rescheduled festival events that now take place throughout the year.
“Our volunteers have worked for six months getting the hall ready and we cannot wait to show Dumfries what we have been working on. This has been a passion project by our community, for our community.”
