Dumfries and Galloway-based performance group, Secret Ministry, and members of Italian theatre company BRAT will deliver a performance of their collaborative work, Secret Ministry of Dreams, in the Theatre Royal on Saturday, 1 July, at 7.30pm.
Secret Ministry of Dreams is an ambient physical theatre performance. It is an experimental work based on the translation of dreams into elements of performance, addressing archetypal themes. Performers and musicians are masked and will lead the audience through this dreamlike experience.
Though Secret Ministry and BRAT both use masks in their practices, their respective backgrounds are very different. BRAT’s work is founded in the Commedia dell’Arte tradition where archetypal characters are portrayed, whereas Secret Ministry’s work is essentially anonymous and addresses archetypal human situations. The collaboration represents the common intention to find a way to directly communicate with the audience on a subconscious level.
The event is supported by Dumfries & Galloway Arts Live and tickets are available from the Midsteeple Box Office on 01387 253383 or from the Theatre on the night
