Santa and his Reindeer are on their way back to Stranraer and they are bringing lots of free events and activities for all of the children of our area to enjoy!
On Saturday 28th November 2015 from 12.00 noon onwards, the Castle Square will be abuzz with Festive Fun including the Giant Toboggan which offers a 30ft ride for young and old alike, all free of charge and with a photo memory provided by the Elves.
Also on the 28th of November, the new Santa’s Grotto will be open and free to everyone. Unveiling will be from 12.00 noon onwards and Santa will be waiting on you there to call in and see him!
Everyone can come along and write and post Letters to Santa, make a wish on the Wish Tree, have their photos taken with the Frozen and Christmas Characters and also The Muppets. You can also play giant Bowls which is another new feature added to the Christmas Activities.
In addition to all of the above, at the Stranraer Library from 12.30pm – 1.30pm and then from 2.30pm – 4.00pm, the Sea Pyots Art Group and YMCA will be helping children and adults to take part in creating a new Stranraer Christmas Collage which will be displayed after completion from the 20th of December: you could contribute to this new piece of lasting artwork. Christmas Cards can also be made at the same time.
As well as the above, the Fabulous Christmas Fairy will be storytelling at the Castle of St. John from 12.00 noon onwards. Please drop in for a sprinkling of magic Christmas Fairy Dust!
Then at 4.45pm, the Stranraer Christmas Lights will be being switched on by the winners of the Primary School’s “Paint A Snowman” Competition who will be driven to the Castle Square on the YMCA and APEX Stranraer Santa’s Float for its annual unveiling. Christmas music will be playing all day to get everyone into the Christmas Spirit. Come along and join in the fun – it’s all free so that everyone can join in!
On Saturday 19th of December, Santa’s Reindeer will be coming back to meet and greet young and old along with more fun free activities. Further details will be announced shortly. Flyers and posters are being distributed throughout Stranraer shortly.
Marion McCutcheon, Chair of the Wigtown Area Committee said; “We are incredibly pleased to round off all of our events this year with all these family fun activities in Stranraer which will bring lots of Christmas cheer. We hope that as many people as possible can come along and watch the Christmas lights being switched on and join in with all the fun activities which will start off the Stranraer Christmas season for 2015.”
