The stunning surroundings of Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate will provide the picturesque backdrop for a musical take on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet later this month.
Theatre group, the Three Inch Fools will perform Romeo and Juliet on the Oval Lawn in front of the historic Castle on Saturday 29 July from 6pm.
The five-strong acting troupe, with all manner of musical instruments, will entertain with an imaginative take on Shakespeare’s famous story of star-crossed lovers, whirlwind romance and bitter tragedy.
All the world’s a stage for The Three Inch Fools who have travelled across the country touring their vibrant musical versions of Shakespeare’s plays to all kinds of venues including castles, stately homes, gardens, churches and even a crowded pub.
Claire Oram, Castle Manager at Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate, said: “With the Castle backdrop, theatre fans can immerse themselves in the romantic setting for this iconic love story next on our open air theatre programme.
“Gates will open from 5pm for families and guests to enjoy a picnic in advance of the performance but please prepare for all weather and book your spot in advance.”
