CAMRA’s 2019 Good Beer Guide Launched The 2019 edition of the CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) Good Beer Guide was officially launched in Scotland on 13th September.
The helpful book lists fourteen of the top Real Ale Pubs in Dumfriesshire and Kirkcudbrightshire. CAMRA members from all over Britain use the guide to help them identify good real ale pubs when visiting the area for holidays or business. Phil Robinson, Secretary of the local CAMRA group explains “There are 45 pubs selling real ale in our area and there is healthy competition to be included in the Good Beer Guide. Local members regularly check out all sellers of real ale for the quality and consistency of their beer and this information is used to select pubs for inclusion in the Guide.”
Chairman of the local CAMRA group, Trevor Hayward added: “Any publican providing real ale from the cask is committed to a great deal of hard work, care and attention, and will possess no mean skill in providing first class ale for their customers. Standards are very high within real ale outlets in Dumfriesshire and Kirkcudbrightshire, both in the beers always on tap and in the wide range of guest ales which prove very popular with both locals and tourists.”
“Anyone with an interest in real ale is encouraged to join us at our various events and play a part in local activities by simply joining CAMRA” Copies of the Guide can be purchased from CAMRA (www.camra.org.uk).
