Baking enthusiasts with passion for cooking and a flair for flour are being encouraged to take part in the Buccleuch Bake-off – part of this year’s Galloway Country Fair taking place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 August.
Adults entrants are invited to present their creations on the day for judging, under three categories: Tomato Chutney or Green Tomato Chutney; Plain White Loaf (2lb tin) and Lemon Drizzle (small or round tin).
Application for entry should be made online no later than 31 July 2017.
Under 16s can also get cooking, with the Fair inviting entries of up to three decorated cupcakes – they can all feature the same decoration or each one can be different. Winners will receive a 2018 Estate Family Season Pass for Drumlanrig Castle.
Anna Fergusson, Visitor Services Centre Manager at Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate, said: “This is a great opportunity for people who want to show off their skills in the kitchen. The competition entries will be judged over the weekend so will be a real celebration of baking.
“There are plenty of talented bakers in the local area and beyond so we’re hoping to receive a number of entries for our competitions. And there will be no end of tasty produce on offer for those who would rather try and buy.
“We would urge anyone interested to visit our website before the closing date of Monday 31 July and fill out the entry form. Entry is free!”
