Dumfries and Galloway Council and regional food organisation DG Food and Drink are urging food and drink and hospitality businesses to participate in a new survey to help shape business support for the sector over the next year.
The survey has been launched following the announcement of a new strategic vision for food and drink in Scotland which seeks to double the value of the sector by 2030.
The findings from the survey will be used to plan a programme of business growth support to help boost the food and drink economy of Dumfries and Galloway, which is already our region’s most valuable economic growth sector.
Lorna Young of DG Food and Drink said:
“There is tremendous potential in our local food and drink sector and we are launching this consultation to determine the best ways of unlocking that potential.
“This is about everyone working together – the industry and the Council’s economic development team – to plan out the most effective ways of growing the sector over the next year.
“As Scotland raises its ambition for food and drink, so we too must play our part, as one of Scotland’s most important food producing regions, in helping to fuel that growth. Growing our local food and drink economy is a critically important part of securing an ambitious and resilient economic future for our region.”
The resulting programme of business growth support will be provided by Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Growth Advisory Programme.
