FREE FAMILY FUN,FOOD AND DRINK DAY AT THREAVE GARDENS THIS JUNE

Castle Douglas Development Forum and NTS Threave Garden are collaborating on a new non-for profit event to promote local Food & Craft Producers and children’s entertainment, to appeal to the whole family.

NTS Threave Garden has made it free entry on the day, to entice new visitors to the Gardens, who will hopefully return and spread the word about the wonderful attraction we have on our doorsteps. Both eateries onsite will be open, the visitor centre serving homemade lunches, snacks, coffees and cakes and even boast a drinks licence, if you fancy walking to Threave for event.

The new Stables takeaway/ coffee house is open and sit in or sit out in courtyard is available. We will have Glen Urr Ice-cream stall situated close to The Stables too. Threave are also holding a Treasure Hunt for families and Garden Tours with Inge.

Michelle Robertson CDDF Project Officer and Secretary told DGWGO Food and drink “Situated beside the Walled garden we will have a food and producers tent and a children’s tent offering a chance to peruse and buy local produce. I personally love a market, at the Artisans Market in Castle Douglas last week, I bought beautiful Mini Quiches from Annette’s Baking in a box, amazing cheese from Derek from Choose a Cheese and sweeties from Wee Sweetie. I nearly bought the most gorgeous earrings from The Buuterfly & Toadstool, until I remembered my ears aren’t pierced!

All of these mentioned are joining us at the event, and so many more local producers. Extra attractions include Tom Kirkpatrick who will be demonstrating and promoting local fish dishes from Dingwall’s Fish Market in the town. Magic Monty will be doing a children’s show from 11.30am until 1.30pm, Wee Blethers will have children’s activities, Amy will be face painting, Gavin from shed therapy will have his special bike, and other Children’s attractions on the day too.

Please come and support this event, we are hoping this event will prove popular and will grow year on year. ”
