Do you live in the Glenkens? Do you eat food? Do you have a couple of minutes to spare? Then Glenkens & District Community Action Plan want to hear from you!
A Spokesperson from Glenkens & District Community Action Plan said “We are working to take forward one of the actions set out in the Glenkens & District Community Action Plan, to build a local food production and distribution network.
Our first step is finding out from Glenkens residents what local food, if any, they buy.
If you’re a Glenkens resident, we want to know:
what access you have to local food (produced within 25 miles)
what kinds of local food you’d like to be able to get hold of
what barriers currently exist and
if you’re involved in any local community food initiatives
The results of this survey will help find new opportunities for creating a sustainable, fair and resilient food system in the Glenkens, where everyone has access to good local food, now and for generations to come.
We are currently reaching out by asking as many people as possible to fill out the survey. We’ll later be holding a series of informal chats (or ‘focus groups’) in July and August, about the issues highlighted in the survey. We then hope to present the findings during Glenkens Food Month this September.
Right now, our main challenge is hearing from as many people as possible, so if you have a couple of minutes to fill it in (that’s all it takes), then that would be very much appreciated. We would also love it if you could help get the word out by sharing the survey with other Glenkens groups and friends. We are also carrying out a separate survey for producers in the area – so watch this space if you’re a producer!
