Reach Your Foodie Peak as an Intern at Mr Pook’s Kitchen

This week sees the latest Galloway Glens supported Intern position advertised, offering a six-month, paid placement at Mr Pook’s Kitchen in Castle Douglas. The role will work across all aspects of the business, giving an excellent overview of a career in the hospitality sector.

 

The role will cover everything from preparing, cooking and presenting food, through to sourcing ingredients from local suppliers and managing business finances.

 

The role is paid £10.90 per hour, working approximately 40 hours per week. Applicants for the role should submit a letter of interest (1-2 sides) why you are interested in the opportunity. Letters should be sent, with an up-to-date CV, to [email protected] by 10th February. Interviews will be held the following week.

 

Ed Pooks will be the hosting the role, and said:

“I am looking forward to introducing you to the world of hospitality, there are many skills we need to put a plate nicely on a table and hopefully you can dive into our world and experience some of the highs and lows of restaurant life in our amazing corner of Scotland.

The Galloway Glens is a 5-year project based in the Stewartry region of Dumfries and Galloway. The scheme is an initiative of Dumfries & Galloway Council’s Environment Team, funded by a range of partners including Drax, the owners of the Galloway Hydro Scheme, and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
