The revival of the Rowan Glen factory in Dumfries and Galloway is providing a much-needed boost to the local economy. Following a successful management buy-out, the new company, Rowan Glen Limited, has breathed new life into the Palnure site, creating 10 jobs in the process.
The agreement includes the purchase of the yoghurt production plant near Newton Stewart, as well as the rights to the Rowan Glen brand, which is one of Scotland’s top 25 take-home food and drink brands.
Production has already resumed at the factory, and the new owners are aiming to expand their workforce to 25 by the end of the year, with a long-term goal of employing 45 people within five years.
The previous owners of the site, Dale Farm Group, had announced a review of its UK operations in September 2022, which included the proposed closure of the Palnure factory. However, the successful buy-out by Rowan Glen Limited has ensured that the factory will continue to operate, providing much-needed jobs and economic growth to the region.
