A YOUNG DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY COUPLE ‘STUNNED’ TO BE NOMINATED FOR TOP SCOTTISH MUSIC AWARD

1 a 1 a Apero album coverA young Dumfries and Galloway couple are in the running for the top prize in one of Scotland’s most prestigious music awards.

Suzanne Rodden, from Thornhill, and Moffat’s Lewis Cook were stunned to find out their album, Apero – their debut as synth-pop duo Happy Meals – had been long-listed in this year’s Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award alongside musical giants like Paulo Nutini, Honeyblood and Slam.

After a public vote last week, Suzi and Lewis are celebrating the news of making the awards shortlist, beating off competition from the likes of Idlewild, Mogwai, King Creosote and the Twilight Sad.

With a first prize of £20,000, the SAY Award reflects the cultural importance of music in Scotland, celebrates its links with art and design and rewards the extraordinary wealth of Scottish artistic talent.

Apero is now amongst the final 10 albums that will go forward to the award ceremony on Wednesday, June 17 at the O2 ABC Glasgow.
