Absolute Classics have announced its 2023 Summer Festival. From the 27-30 of July, the festival will feature a host of incredible classical musicians.
- Thursday, 27 July 7:30 pm: Michael Collins on clarinet and Daniel King Smith on piano
- Friday, 28 July 7:30 pm: Pianist Anna Tsybuleva, First Prize Winner of the Leeds International Piano Competition
- Saturday, 29 July 7:30 pm: British cellist Natalie Clein, joined by Julia Hamos on piano
- Sunday, 30 July 4:00 pm: Opera Bohemia’s performance of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly
The festival’s opening night on Thursday, 27 July 7:30 pm, will be presented by Michael Collins on clarinet and Daniel King Smith on piano. Michael Collins is renowned for his dazzling virtuosity and sensitive musicianship, making him one of today’s most distinguished artists and leading clarinettists.
On Friday, 28 July 7:30 pm, pianist Anna Tsybuleva, crowned First Prize Winner of the Leeds International Piano Competition, will take the stage. Described by Gramophone Magazine as embodying “superb pianism and intelligent musicianship,” Tsybuleva’s performance is not to be missed.
British cellist Natalie Clein, regularly performing at major venues and with orchestras worldwide, will perform on Saturday, 29 July 7:30 pm, joined by Julia Hamos on the piano. Clein has been described by The Times as “mesmerising” and “soaringly passionate.”
Scotland’s professional touring company, Opera Bohemia, will perform Madama Butterfly on Sunday, 30 July at 4:00 pm. This is Puccini’s devastating tragedy about a young Japanese girl who falls in love with an American naval officer.
