Artists from across Scotland record ‘unofficial anthem’ for this year’s Euro tournament which kick off in Germany next month.
The Hunter & McMustard & Mellow Party release ‘Go on Yourself’ featuring Dumfries Community Choir is due out on 7th June on Button Up Records and is tipped to become the fans favourite to the EUFA European Championships 2024.
Featuring musicians from Colonel Mustard and The Dijon 5, The Creative Martyrs, The Laurette’s, Gleadhraic and Dumfries Community Choir.
Artists have come together from all corners of Scotland including Carnoustie, Kirkcudbright, Kilwinning, Pitlochry, Falkirk, Dumfries, Lochmaben, Annan, Lanark, Dennistoun, Gourock and Shawlands in Glasgow.
The song starts as a ballad and ends with a high-octane ceilidh and the video was filmed at Hampden Scottish Football Museum. The lyrics written by John McMustard.
John McMustard of Hunter & McMustard said:
“The song wasn’t originally intended as a Tartan Army anthem, but as we started to collaborate with more people, the momentum just sort of grew from there which is why we wanted to release it ahead of the Euros”.
This is an anthem that guarantees a sing song any time it’s played live and we’re hopeful the Tartan Army gets right behind it.”
Maureen Farrell, (76) a member Dumfries Community Choir for the last 13 years said:
“What I love about this song is how upbeat it makes you feel which won’t only make the fans feel good, but hopefully our talented Scotland teams will feel how much we believe in them.”
Gary Cameron, (34), Director of Music at Dumfries Community Choir said of the release:
“We are honoured to be collaborating with Hunter & McMustard on this rousing anthem. There has been between mutual love between Dumfries Community Choir and Colonel Mustard (John McMustard) for a while now. This is a perfect way to showcase our collective talents. “
