Switched on fans are aware that Electric Fields is set to grow this year, under the direction of local promoters Alex and Nick Roberts. The Festival has evolved from its early days as Comlongon Rocks, which was a successful showcase for Dumfries and Galloway bands and take places for a third year at Drumlanrig Castle later this month.
Electric Fields will now be held over two full days, at the scenic stately home, which provides the perfect setting for superb music, artisan food and stylish camping for those making a weekend of the event.
Primal Scream and the Charlatans provide the main stage headline acts, ably supported by Festival favorites the Go!Team, Everything Everything and Public Service Broadcasting.
Alex Roberts, Festival Director said,
“We are growing into our new home at Drumlanrig and have a festival line-up that has captured the public’s imagination – our ticket sales are more than double what they were at the same date last year. We are still the best value for money festival this side of the Orinoco – at £89.50 our ticket price is set so that everyone who wants to come to Electric Fields should be able to do so.”
The Festival is being fully supported by the Council and has received funding of £12,000 from the Local Authority’s Major Events Strategic Fund. EventScotland, a team within VisitScotland’s Events Directorate is providing a grant of £13,000.
Councillor Colin Smyth, the Council’s Events Champion said;
“Electric Fields looks to have the perfect combination of music, food and location to go from strength to strength. The Council wants to invest in growth events for Dumfries and Galloway and the Festival organisers fully merit their funding support from the Major Events Strategic Fund, for their hard work and creative risk taking. Electric Fields can in time join the Wickerman, Eden and Knockengorroch Festivals as a quartet of nationally significant and economically valuable events that are born and bred in our region.”
Paul Bush OBE, Director of Events at VisitScotland, said;
“We are delighted to be supporting Electric Fields, through our National Funding Programme. Scotland is the perfect stage for music events and the festival is a great boost for Dumfries and Galloway, giving visitors and locals the chance to enjoy the festival’s spectacular line-up of local and international-known acts within the stunning grounds of Drumlanrig Castle.”
Electric Fields takes place on 26 and 27 August, at Drumlanrig Castle.
