A brand new festival for Dumfries ‘Hidden Gem Festival’ has announced the line up for its first ever year as it sets out to take over Dumfries town on Saturday 14th September.
Festival attendees are invited to 4 venues in Dumfries town centre, which are well loved and have a reputation for hosting high quality music events. The venues are:
- Coach and Horses
- The Douglas Arms
- Riverside Tap
- White Hart
The line-up includes acts from all over the country with local acts Rhelm, Hello?Disco and Palliro representing the region, to name but a few. The day also showcases talent from the central belt with blues band Rigid Soul playing in Riverside Tap and punk band Soapbox, who are fresh off the stage at this year’s TRNSMT Festival. From further afield, Scottish/Irish folk band Bruach from Perth will be taking to the stage.
This new platform for artists ensures that new audiences are reached, whilst encouraging emerging musicians and bands to showcase their ability to a friendly, welcoming Dumfries crowd.
With a line up set to include something for everyone, Hidden Gem Festival is the first of a series of annual events, with plans to upscale and incorporate more artists and local businesses.
To ensure the future of the Festival, Hidden Gem will have donation buckets for Festival goers to show their support and help to put Dumfries back on the map as a town for music through the collective efforts of local businesses, volunteers, unbeatable audiences and those with a passion for all the great things our region has to offer.
Event organiser Cerys Cooper told DGWGO “Hidden Gem Festival is a festival to help promote grassroots venues, artists and bring the local community closer together. The event is a one-day, multi-venue music festival in pubs across Dumfries town centre. The aim of the festival is to encourage people to go out and socialise, build a community and support local venues and artists. The festival will be set across 4 venues all within walking distance of each other. The festival will be free to attend”
