It was the ‘end of an era’ at the final meeting of the Islesteps Accordion and Fiddle Club for the 2017/18 season held at Locharbriggs Social Club when secretary of 45 years, Ian Gray and his wife Lilias, who has also been involved over a number of years, selling raffle tickets, dance tickets and taking the entry money were presented with gifts as they stand back from their duties on the committee.
John M Caskie MBE said “John Douglas, Club Chairman presented the gifts after I (JMC) had the pleasure of thanking Ian and Lilias for their dedication and service to the Club over the years.
Scott Band, guest band for the evening played ‘they are jolly good fellows’ as the large crowd gave three cheers and wished Ian and Lilias good luck for the future.
A large crowd enjoyed super music from many visiting and supporting Artistes, before Scott Band and his SDB gave two very accomplished and entertaining guest spots on the programme.
The Club will reconvene on the first Tuesday in September for the 2018/2019 season.“
