‘All We Can Do’ is the latest single from Dumfries and Galloway band Kissing The Flint, the creative project powered by multi- award nominated singer-songwriter Leah (Jett) Chynoweth-Tidy.
This emotive, instrumented pop track navigates the adversities that everyone faces at one time or another in life, underpinned by a positive message of holding on to hope, to uncover our inner strength, to keep calm and carry on, and find the eye of the storm.
Currently based in her father’s native Scotland, the Australian-born artist penned ‘All We Can Do’ before moving from Australia to the UK later in 2020, as a global pandemic began to shadow the world and hope felt elusive.
“I originally wrote ‘All We Can Do’ as a blues-rock song for my second album, released on my 2024 Australian tour,” says Leah. ‘Even though not released as single at that time, it achieved an Australian Songwriting Association Top 10 indie-rock award and a UK Songwriting Award commendation in my first year of entering.
Huey Dowling at Unit 7 Studio in South West Scotland reckoned it would also sound fantastic as a pop single, and we worked together to reimagine the original blues-rock album track. I was very excited to also work for the first time with Ben Findlay
(Real World, Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Jeff Beck) on the mastering of this track.”
Leah’s partnership with Unit 7 Studio will also see the release later this year of her third (and first UK) Kissing The Flint album ‘Rule The World’, showcasing her songwriting versatility and an empowered shift towards a fresh sound with country pop/rock, soul, and even ska influences.
“‘All We Can Do’ reflects on how we all have the ability and strength within ourselves to push through and soldier on, even when our days feel darkest,” explains Leah. “When we feel like mere spectators of our own lives, standing on the outside looking in and fearing that we’re losing control over our destiny, try to remember that all is not lost. Ride the rolling stone and believe that the light is waiting for you up ahead to banish the shadows, if you can only hold on to hope.”

Since relocating from Australia to the UK in 2020, Kissing The Flint has wowed many new audiences in the Northern hemisphere. She returned to home soil in 2024 for her first Australian tour in 4 years, topped off by a main stage performance at the Agnes Blues Roots & Rock Festival alongside antipodean music royalty, Vika & Linda.
