Singer/songwriter ‘Stoney Broke’ opens up 2017 for Little Stove Presents with his take on a couple of classics…
This week’s cover comes from Dumfries based ‘Stoney Broke’; the alter ego of solo performer Jake Scott. ‘Stoney Broke’ is yet another example of the talent in the South-West of Scotland and he is starting to make a name for himself with his polished live performances and original arrangements.
Jake kicks off 2017 for Little Stove Presents with his own mash-up version of California Dreamin’ by The Mamas and The Papas, and All Along The Watchtower previously performed by both Bob Dylan and The Jimi Hendrix Experience. His powerful voice and lovely variation in guitar playing really gives these two songs justice and creates one great individual cover.
As well as his cover we also recorded one of Stoney Broke’s original songs called ‘Hardest Heartbreak’. Again his accomplished guitar playing and great ability to write song lyrics made this song stick in my head for days (in a good way!) and I’m sure it will have audiences singing along to it in no time…
Speaking with Jake during recording he told us what an exciting year 2017 is lining up to be. With a number of festivals coming up this summer and gigs around the country ‘Stoney Broke’ is certainly keeping himself busy which gives you no excuse for not going out and seeing him live… You wont regret it!
