Emma Harper MSP attended the Youth Beatz Festival last weekend where she met with young people, including members of the Scottish Youth Parliament.
The festival – which is in its 8th year – featured the X Factor’s James Arthur as well as Cascada and Bella and the Bear.
Ms Harper took the opportunity to meet with a range of young people at the event including Dylan Currie, MSYP for Galloway and West Dumfries, and Emily Davies MSYP for Dumfriesshire
Ms Harper commented:
“I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with volunteers and organisers – and even a couple of police officers who said the event had been safe and well organised.
“Youthbeatz is in its 8th year and growing all the time – it is estimated that 12’000 people attended last weekend.
“The event is a great way to discuss and explore issues that are important to young people, including drugs, alcohol, bullying, diversity, equality and mental health.
“it was also great to speak with local MSYPs Dylan Currie and Emily Davies. Both Emily and Dylan are very enthusiastic about their role, and it was good to chat about the issues concerning them as Dumfries and Galloway’s youth representatives.”
