Scotland’s Largest Free Youth Music Event arrives at Dock Park, with Headliners Union J and Scouting For Girls set to take to the stage.
With all 12,000 tickets sold out and all allocated to residents within Dumfries and Galloway, and a fantastic line up of music, activities and the World of Wonka, Youth Beatz 2015 promises to be a great spectacle and possibly the best yet.
Gates open at 12noon on Saturday and spectators can enjoy the day until the finale at around 10.30pm, but only those with a valid ticket or pass will be allowed entrance to the event. All 12,000 tickets have gone to only Dumfries and Galloway residents for the third time this will ensure the event is the largest gathering of people from the region.
Those lucky enough to have a ticket for the event will have the opportunity to enjoy the day time activities, witness performances by UNION J and SCOUTING FOR GIRLS, who this year are headlining Youth Beatz. This year also sees local acts Ben Stubbs, Emma McNeill and The Mermaids take to the main stage as well as over 20 other local groups performing that combined has 170 young people from our area.
Organisers of the event are well on track with transforming the Dock Park into the great live music venue it lends itself to be. This year for the third time will have pedestrian tracking laid throughout the site. This should prevent the festival goers’ bane of mud everywhere and reduce the need for wellies!
The interactive event for young people aged 12-25 to have fun, take part and be better informed about relevant issues, services and opportunities. It has been designed to be as much about socialising and experiencing major main stage acts, as it is aimed at creating civic pride and a lasting legacy of young people being fully involved in their community. It will see a wide range of free activities including Falconry Displays, Battle Re-enactments by local Viking Group, Inflatables, storytelling at the mobile library, a Healthy Beatz zone with a wide range of health information and taster sessions and The World of Wonka Production.
Over 120 volunteers will be involved on the day of the event and during the set up at the park and this continues to be a significant opportunity for local people to volunteer to support a key event in the local community.

“It’s great that once again the event has sold out and that 12,000 tickets have went to local people who can come along and have a great day with their friends and families. I also want to thank the large number of volunteers that have given up their time to help make Youth Beatz a success in particular the young people who have been working all summer on producing the World of Wonka Experience and the Oasis Events Team who have helped organise and plan the event.”
Now in its seventh year, the award winning event is managed through a partnership led by the Council’s Community Learning and Development Service Nithsdale in conjunction with the Oasis Events Team. Funding for the event has been secured from Nithsdale Area Committee, Young Start, Cash Back for Communities, Alcohol and Drugs Partnership, Buccleuch Estates, West Sound and Inspiring Entrepreneur Project.
The event has a strong reputation for being a safe day out for those who attend and Inspector Stuart Wilson of Police Scotland said;
“Youth Beatz is a fantastic, interactive based event which has been hugely successful since its inception. Police will be in attendance within the event and the surrounding area and there will be a zero tolerance approach to any person who is intent on causing disorder. Police Scotland has worked in partnership with Youth Beatz planners to ensure the focus of Youth Beatz is on young people being able to attend and enjoy the event in safety. This is a no alcohol event and a robust policing plan is in place to ensure that anybody who enters this area in possession of, or under the influence of alcohol will be refused entry. Any young person found in possession or under the influence of alcohol will have their parents contacted to attend in order that they can be taken home.”

“We would strongly advise people who do not already have tickets not to turn up on the day as no further tickets will be available & for people to arrive early as there will be no admission after 9.00pm and to remember that no food or drink is allowed to be taken into Dock Park.”
