Scottish Music Legends Bay City Rollers Headline Annual Dumfries Cornets Ball

Loreburn Hall will play host to the biggest night in Dumfries’ summer social calendar as Scotland’s own “tartan teenagers” take to the stage.

The annual Cornets Ball will transform the hall into a red-carpet event on Wednesday June 14 and is set to be bigger and better than ever.

The town’s very own Shades of Sax will get the party started before headliners the Bay City Rollers take the stage.

Jordan McLatchie, Club Chairman of Dumfries Cornets Club said: “We really wanted to do something special this year. The Big Burns Supper Loreburn Hall has welcomed us with open arms and so we decided to go big with Scotland’s original boy band – The Bay City Rollers.”

Bay City Rollers guitarist legend, Stuart ‘Woody’ Wood, has brought together a powerful group of talented musicians who symbolise the same spirit of the original band that the world knew and loved.

Breathing new life into the classic hits with Woody leading the charge on guitar, the Bay City Rollers have been re-born with Ian Thomson on lead vocals and guitar, Marcus Cordock on bass guitar and Jamie McGrory on drums.

The annual ball, which returned last year after an enforced break due to the pandemic is an integral part of the town’s calendar and everyone is welcome.

Jordan added: “The ball is a central part of Dumfries Guid Nychburris festival, and with the Bay City Rollers and Shades of Sax on stage, this is going to be a night to remember.”

For the first time Dumfries Cornets Club have partnered up with The Bank, La Dolce Vita and Back Street so concert goers can enjoy a pre-performance three course meal before heading to Loreburn Hall to turn the night tartan.

The Bank and La Dolce Vita packages are fully booked, however there are still limited places available for Back Street. These tickets are priced at £45 and include a welcome drink on arrival, three course meal and entry to the venue.

In addition, due to popular demand there will be limited ‘event only’ tickets on sale at £25 via the Big Burns Supper website now so that no one misses out on what is set to be a memorable evening.

As part of the night there will be the chance to win £400 in the prize draw and the ‘parade of sashes’ will take place, as Dumfries Cornets Club welcome past and present principals from Dumfries and visiting towns.

Tickets for the three course dinner and entry as well as event only tickets are available online at https://bigburnssupper.com/event/cornets-ball-with-bay-city-rollers/
