Ben Stubbs, 2014 winner, said, “I found out about the competition through school and wanted to write a song about the seriousness of domestic abuse and promote the fact that there is help available. The experience of the song writing competition was great and getting the opportunity to play at Youth Beatz is amazing.”

DAVAWP (Domestic Abuse and Violence Against Women Partnership), in partnership with the Council, has run a song writing competition for the last 5 years, attracting talented young musicians who wanted to add their voices to local campaigns against gender based violence.
