Last weekend saw the 5th Stranraer RNLI Parkfest and DGWGO were once again very proud to be asked to be an official media partner with this fabulous Charity event , raising important funds for the Stranraer RNLI Crew and Lifeboat .
As usual this year was split into two events the Friday night Young Guns night and the Big day itself on the Saturday , Our Roving reporter Kevin Sloan of KSSimages travelled to the west of the region for us this year , for his first experience at the regions only charity Music festival .
Kevin said ” It was my first experience of Stranraer Parkfest , and it was amazing , such a friendly relaxed atmosphere ,everyone was open to conversation and offering to help me to capture the photos I was looking for.
The bands that were playing kept the people dancing and enjoying the atmosphere all day long. plus the fantastic weather Stranraer enjoyed over the weekend added to the overall feel for Park Fest and great to see everyone raising funds for RNLI”
Kevin took nearly 1000 photos of the day he spent at Parkfest , and we have just a few of them to share with you here , Firstly the Folk and faces and places of parkfest 2014
This year the festival was once again compered by the Fantastic Duo from Alive 107.3fm community radio , Mr Ali Donowho and Lee Medd , the Modern day combo who are a cross between of Ant and Dec, The two Ronnies, Little and Large , Bill and Ben , Bill and Ted and of course Morecome and Wise , they are Brilliant to see on stage , and in my opinion they should go on a national tour in their own right ! They were also joined by fellow Alive radio presenter Murray the Magician , who thrilled the crowd at the festival with a selection of his death defying magical tricks. Kevin took these photos too –
Mandy Green event organiser told us at DGWGO ” It was a great day, the sun shone, albeit a bit chilly, but folks just wore a vest ha ha.
The standard of music was very high…the Battlefield Band were superb, Neville, the Ska Daddy even had a conga going, then of course the Ruckstars partied like no other band can party.
The Yahs, just fab, everyone was, its hard to pick out a highlight.
The Young Guns Night, was awesome…ir is that awsum? With indie to heavy stuff, something to suit all, the young talent certainly shone.
Thanks to all who support this event, its hard work but worth it for great cause, a great way to raise funds for our Lifeboat, and to see Stranraer Rawk!! And of course a few ‘special’ ice bucket challenges…..with more to come! ”
And of course at the end of the day , a festival is about the music , and Kevin also took plenty of pictures of the performers onstage too –
We will be bringing you More details from the festival later in the week , including the total raised and the numbers of folk who attended , once all the calculations are done !
Team DGWGO would like to thank the RNLI Park fest team for their hospitality , and thank them for having enough faith in DGWGO to make us an official media partner .
We would also like to thank kevin of KSSimages for creating this article and sharing his photos with us ( all photos copyright of KSSimages do not share or copy without permission)
we would also like to thank Auchenlarie Holiday Park , for supplying Kevin with his accommodation for the night .
