Applicants Urged to Beat the Deadline for Scotland’s Finest Woods Awards

The final push is on for anyone applying to the 2016 Scotland’s Finest Woods Awards with less than 30 days to go to submit entries.

The Awards – an annual recognition and celebration of those who use, promote, own or manage Scotland’s woods and forests – are open for woodland owners and managers, including communities and individuals.

There is also a special award for schools of any type anywhere in Scotland that is involved in a forestry, wood or trees project.

Angela Douglas, Executive Director of Scotland’s Finest Woods, said:

“We, at Scotland’s Finest Woods, want to recognise the very best of Scotland’s woods and all they can offer and we’re looking forward to another exciting range of entries this year.

“Forestry in Scotland contributes almost £1billion to the economy so it’s hugely important and our goal is to help celebrate that success by finding and celebrating the best examples of all the hard work that goes on – often away from public gaze and often over many years.

“There are several trophies and a total of £7,000 of prize money to be won so grab a short and simple application form and put your woodland forward before it’s too late!”

There are four category awards – featuring seven competitions – that include forest industry focused awards, new native woods award and awards for schools and for community woodlands.
