To celebrate the Year of Young People, Buccleuch’s Estates across Scotland are set to introduce a wave of initiatives aimed at capturing the imaginations of youngsters this year.
Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate in Dumfries and Galloway will be focusing on bringing the Estates’ history, beautiful wildlife, scenery, and career opportunities to life for young people across Scotland.
The Estate has also partnered with the Historic Houses Association and Young Scot to offer Young Scot cardholders access for just £1. The scheme means members can visit the historic tourist attraction and explore its grand rooms as well as the vast Estate for a fraction of the entry fee.
The Dumfriesshire visitor attraction also launched a community bursary initiative earlier this year in search of youth organisations to support.
In a bid to encourage young people to consider a career in the sector, the Rangers at Drumlanrig host an array of events such as its Junior Ranger programme. This gives eight to 16-year-olds a flavour of a life as a countryside Ranger during school holidays. Activities such as den building, cave art and fire lighting, also available at Drumlanrig, all aim to inspire kids to go back to basics and immerse themselves in the great outdoors.
