Return of mountain bike trails
Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate is gearing up for a busy Easter.
From 1st April, the Gardens and Adventure Playground will reopen daily, 11am-4pm. The Adventure Playground, already a favourite with children, will unveil some new pieces of equipment specifically for some of the youngest visitors to the Estate, including a swing set, mini assault course and slide.
Guided tours of the Castle are also on offer over the Easter weekend (Saturday 8th- Monday 10th April). Visitors can discover hundreds of years of history and the world-class Buccleuch Collection on a fascinating tour with one of Drumlanrig’s expert guides.
2023 also sees the return of the much-loved Easter Fun Day on Sunday 9th April. The whole family can take part in Easter trails and a whole host of activities ranging from inflatable assault courses to axe throwing, a craft station, face painting and clay pigeon shooting for the adults.
This Easter the Estate will welcome the return of the popular blue and red mountain bike trails. These trails are firm family favourites, and the timing couldn’t be better with cycling and mountain biking on the world stage as Scotland celebrates hosting the UCI Cycling World Championships later in the year.
The Larchwood Cabin Café will be open daily from 1st April serving hot and cold drinks, light lunches, and delicious home baking. The Castle Tearoom is also open when Castle tours are taking place from 8th to 10th April.
With so much to enjoy, the Estate Season Pass is a worthwhile option for frequent visitors. A family season pass, for two adults and up to three children, lets visitors enjoy the Adventure Playground, Gardens and woodland walks and trails, as many times as they like throughout the season. The great value pass costs £50, with individual season passes also available for £24.
Day tickets are also available. Entry for a Castle Tour (including the Gardens and Parking) is £18 for Adults, £15 for Concessions and £9 for Children (under 5’s free). Entry to the Gardens and Adventure Playground is £8 for Adults, £7 for Concessions and £6 for Children (under 5’s free). A small parking charge, £2.50, will recommence on 1st April for those who just want to enjoy the paths and trails, which have been cleared following storm damage.
