The Loch Ken Trust is holding a Free Family Fun Day on Saturday 22nd July 11am-3pm, focussing on promoting Water Safety Awareness.
Water Safety on and around the Loch has always been a top priority for the Loch Ken Trust, and has been brought into sharp focus with the recent tragic fatality on Loch Ken.
The event, which will take place next to Loch Ken Holiday Park, will be attended by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with their Water Safety Team, Galloway Mountain Rescue and Nith Inshore Rescue, with rescue demonstrations, appliances on display, safety advice and children’s activities and a barbecue.
Loch Ken Ranger, Leanne Pumpr said, “We are looking forward to an exciting day of activities and demonstrations. It should be great fun for all the family, so come on down to Loch Ken on the 22nd July.”
Stew Gibson of Galloway Mountain Rescue said “ Members of Galloway Mountain Rescue Water Rescue Team are really looking forward to coming along and showing visitors the skills and equipment, we use to help those in need of assistance in and around the Loch. We’re looking forward to meeting everyone.”
We hope to get a lot of visitors on the day come along to take part in these activities and raise awareness of the Water Safety Code and educate members of the public on how to keep yourself safe on and around the water.
