Castle Kennedy Gardens is a natural draw for families with NEW and exciting activities throughout Summer!
Schools out for Summer and there’s an incredible variety of exciting events over the next couple of months at Castle Kennedy Gardens!
The Gardens 2 acre Victorian Lily Pond is home to some HUGE newts, All about Newts and Make a Newt Home on Wednesday 5th July gives visitors to the Gardens the perfect chance to explore the habitat of these wonderful creatures in more detail.
The summer programme would not be complete without firm favourites Tepee Shelters and Den Building on Sunday 9th July and Wednesday 23rd August. Science fans will be delighted that Water Laboratory and Ranger Rafts which offers children a chance to inspect the effects of water and ice and how to make heavy items float will make a return on Wednesday 19th July. Crafty visitors can join in Nature Weaving and NEW for this summer Yarn Bombing both on Sunday 23rd July.
The Gardens will be in full bloom over the summer helping create some special memories for families and bursting with creativity with this year’s thrilling theatrical performance.
Open Air Theatre will take place in front of 16th century Castle Kennedy ruins with Kenneth Grahame Wind in the Willows on Monday 7th August delivering the best quality theatre in a most atmospheric setting.
There will be a chance to catch more great dreams with one of last year’s popular events – Dream Catcher – taking place on Wednesday 9th August. In the afternoon another great activity, Campfire Treats, will encourage young people to think about cooking tasty treats safely on a campfire.
Get set to Build a Bug Hotel and Build a Bug Hotel on Sunday 13 August will provide bugs and mini-beasts that live in the Gardens a purpose built home ready for guests!
For Garden enthusiasts Guided Garden Walks with the Head Gardener are running this year with a firm favourite, The Walled Garden Guided Walk, on Wednesday 12 July offering visitors a wander by fantastic blooms bursting with full colour and Plant Propagation & Seed Sowing on Wednesday 30 August offering visitors a fascinating introduction into plant propagation.
In September we are offering visitors the chance to experience Open Air Cinema, on Friday 1st September there will be Sunshine on Leith showing in the Gardens and Dirty Dancing on the Lawns of Lochinch Castle on Friday 15th September, limited tickets are available for both of these movie nights so early booking is highly recommended.
