Dumfries and Galloway Council’s regional Youth Work Team has been out and about as part of a busy programme of activities for young people between 12 and 25 years of age.
A wide range of pop-up youth villages have been touring the region, with activities such as sumo suits, bubble football, sports activities, arts & crafts, and the mobile youth centre MY POD that has music and games consoles.
From Langholm to Stranraer and lots in between, youth workers are out and about to meet local young people and provide quality youth work activities through the holidays.
There have been also been a lot of trips, visits and activities running, including barbeques at the beach, trips to the indoor trampolining centres, outdoor activities at Laggan Outdoors, and dance events. So, it’s been a busy summer so far and there’s more to come.
Councillor Adam Wilson, Young People’s Champion, said: “I’m delighted to see that our Council’s regional Youth Work Service has brought together such a comprehensive and wide reaching programme of activities for our young people to participate in through the summer period. It’s important that all of our young people have equal access to provision wherever they are. Our council’s Youth Work service is providing a range of pop up villages, trips and the Youth Beatz Festival, all of which promise to deliver great fun and positive outcomes for young people right across our region.”
There are still lots of activities and youth villages yet to come, doing the rounds right up to the end of July. Information on these can be found at the Youth Work Services Facebook pages East HERE or West HERE
