Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited continued their breeding sheep sale on Monday 3rd September, 2018 when they staged their annual Blackface Ewe lamb sale. With a rough lambing time having taken its toll numbers were back on the year. Whilst some of the top draw lambs would look to be less money than last year the middle and bottom sheep were extremely well bid for with some lots up £20 on the year. Topping the sale at £136 was a super pen from J W Kay & Co, Gass Farm, Straiton. This was followed at £130 and £124 from Fingland, Dalry; £116 from Milnmark and £114 from Knockreoch and Grimmet. 1940 Blackface Ewe lambs averaged £87.76 against £79.83 for 2726 last year.
