Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited continued their breeding sheep sales on Monday 26th August 2019 when sold 7371 Scotch Mule Ewe lambs. At the pre sale show the judge, George Simpson from Huntly awarded the Champion ticket to an outstanding quality pen of 40 from Messrs Shennan, Farden which went on to sell for £156 to Messrs Smith, Towiemore, Keith. Reserve Champion were also a pen of 40 which sold for £122 to Mr J Guild, New Cumnock. Outwith the prizewinners a pen of 40 from Messrs Lockhart, Culdoach topped the sale selling to R A Booth & Sons, Hesley Hall. Lambs were shown in tremendous bloom and met with a good level demand. Whilst the top lots were harded to cash than previous years the middle and lower draws were well up on the year. Top flock average was £111.25 for 102 from S McKie, Finniness. Overall sale average levelled at £92.82 for 7371 sold compared to £92.91 for 7266 last year.
