The Secretary of State for Scotland and the President of NFU Scotland are set to take part in a special ‘Question Time’-style event in Dumfries and Galloway which will focus on the potential effects of Brexit on the country’s rural industries.
David Mundell, MP for Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale, will be joined in a special panel discussion by NFUS President Andrew McCornick, who farms locally, as well as representatives from the red meat, dairy and banking sectors.
Organised by SAC Consulting, part of Scotland’s Rural College, Brexit: Question Time! will take place at SRUC’s Barony Campus, Dumfries, on Thursday 18 January.
The evening will begin with a talk from SRUC economists Kev Bevan and Steven Thompson, who will outline the different ways Brexit could affect Scottish agriculture.
Following the panel discussion, which will be chaired by SRUC Vice Chairman Alistair Marshall, members of the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions.
