Team DGWGO joined the huge crowds that braved the rain to enjoy the 2014 Dumfries Show at Park Farm Dumfries on Saturday the 2nd of August !
And What a show it was , Even though it was on one of the wettest days of this summer so far , massive crowds had turned out to be entertained , with all the usual show stands and stalls , and Animlas , plus so much more , Including motorbike stunt shows and fun for all the family .
R.B went along with L.C and 3 kids and her daughter and his Nephew and niece , who were all under the age of 11 so got free entry , which really makes the show a great value family day out , as there is so much to see and do , and its not just entertainment for farmers , there really is something for everyone as you can see from the 135 photos that we have included in this article !
With Animals of all shapes , sizes , breeds and types to see , there truly is something for everyone , the kids were fascinated with the cows but also loved seeing the smaller animals at the RHET Tent , where they got to handle ducks, stroke sheep and calves and learn how to milk a cow ! They also saw a cow being milked for real , down in the cattle alley . One of the highlights for team DGWGO was getting to meet Billy and Oscar , Scotlands only fire dogs , and the kids even got to interact with them , buy being involved with the dogs doing a display at work , tracking down possible causes of fire , even in the rain these dogs could do an amazing job , and were brilliant to watch .
Although the weather did put pay to the main parade taking place in the afternoon , the show still went on , with a fantastic motorbike stunt display being held in the main ring to a packed out grandstand, and the Horse Jumping carried on , and it was great to watch , and I loved photographing it to ( even though the rain was playing havoc with my camera and lenses ) .
As many folk know , I am a farmer for a living for my day job , and i run DGWGO and R.B photography in my spare time , but i have not been to any of the local agricultural shows in over 7 years , as I lost interest in them , and felt after the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001 , the shows had lost their fun and zing . but Dumnfries show has restored my faith , We really enjoyed everything about it , and the vibe and fun . The Food hall, Flower tent and craft area were all packed , it was fantastic to see so many entries to all of the competitions , and it was really great to see so many people smiling , laughing and enjoying the regions largest Agricultural show of the year . We will definately be back again next year , and hopefully the sun will shine too !
We Hope you enjoy our photos
