The stars of the hit BBC series “This Farming Life” were reunited off screen at the Royal Highland Show today (June 24th 2016) to share their experiences of farming and their recent TV stardom.
The farming families, who won the hearts of the nation during the hit series earlier this year, were interviewed by presenter Bryan Burnett and answered a wide range of questions from visitors to the QMS stand at the show.
The five couples voiced their huge appreciation of the tide of public support they have received following the airing of the series, saying the feedback they had received and are continuing to receive has been quite overwhelming.
One of the couples, Mel and Martin Irvine, whose engagement, blackening and wedding plans were followed by the show, took the opportunity to introduce a very special new arrival, nine-week old Erin! The couple said her arrival – “no calving jacks required” – had transformed their lives.
The show followed the journey of the five very different farming families in some of Scotland’s most beautiful and remote landscapes to give viewers an insight into the highs and lows of working in the industry.
Carol McLaren, Head of Communications at QMS said: “It was brilliant to get these five fabulous farming families reunited at the Royal Highland Show and to offer show-goers the chance to ask them questions at the show.
“They have done a huge amount to improve the public’s understanding of farming and really engage them with the reality of cattle and sheep farming in Scotland.”
