It was a full house in Castle Douglas Town Hall on the 28th November as the recently formed Dumfries and Galloway Dairy Women Network held its opening meeting.
Focusing on book keeping and business management, more than 20 attendees met with a chartered accountant and a specialist dairy consultant to discuss best practice. With further events already being planned, Network founder Tracey Roan, who farms at Boreland of Colvend near Dalbeattie praised the level of discussion and knowledge sharing at the inaugural event.
Tracey told DGWGO Rural and Farming News: “There was great buzz last night and so encouraging to see like-minded women from a varying age group come along to talk business and figures . It was clear from the outset that women play such an important role in many farming businesses. They are keen to make improvements and make the business more efficient. This group gives us the opportunity to share knowledge and I look forward to organising future events.”
