INJURED CASTLE DOUGLAS FARM WORKER THANKS HOSPITAL STAFF FOR THEIR CARE

Lodge Of Kelton ,Near Castle Douglas , Dairyman  ‘James Lee Morris’ Made it to the front page of his local paper this week, but not for winning a show prize with his best cow.

46 year old James Morris ( Best known as Lee) had a very close call when he was attacked by one of his newly calved dairy  cows . At the time of the attack Lee was checking on a new born calf like he does hundreds of times each year, when the over protective mother charged him down and hit him in the ribs ,  Then kept attacking him until he lay completely still. With contusions of the lung plus torn cartilage in the rib cage Lee had to spend nearly 2 weeks in DGRI recovering. Lee is home now and he has written to DGWGO today with a thank you note to thank the hospital  staff who have cared for him.

He wrote – Just to let you know…after my 5 minutes of fame getting on the front page of my local paper (cow crush) , I am just home after 10 days in hospital at Dumfries Royal Infirmary, the staff in the HDU and ward 6 were absolutely fantastic, from the support staff all the way up to the top anesthetists, the compassion, patience and pure professionalism shown, not just to me but every patient I saw, was incredible.
To do what they do, working the hours they do, to show the commitment they showed, proves to me any problems in the NHS does not come from the front line staff, as they love their work, they wouldn’t do it the way they do unless they loved it. Thank you with all my heart and from my wife and family for getting me back on my feet and back home. I am still on a lot of morphine and other painkillers but this is nothing compared to what I was like when I entered A&E on Wednesday 22nd…..kindest regards James ‘lee’ morris

P.S if Scott is missing giving me a shower my wife says he can come here and shower me…
