Richard Baines, Logan Botanic Garden’s Curator near Stranraer, has just returned from Bosnia and Herzegovina where he was invited to work in partnership with Sarajevo Botanic Garden to create a new garden at its entrance.
Curator Dzana Bordanic, was an intern student at Logan in 2018.
The project is financially supported by the British Council, enabling this to be completed in partnership. Creating and maintaining these partnerships is a vital component of botanical horticulture through the process of offering support and capacity building.
Richard’s plan with Sarajevo Botanic Garden is joint fieldwork in Bosnia with the aim of conserving some of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s rare endemics such as Lilium bosniacum .
