Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their weekly sale of 1010 prime lambs and cast sheep on Tuesday 28th June 2016.
875 Prime lambs sold to average 198.54p SQQ (198.86p). All classes of lambs were sharper on the week. Heavy lambs were keenly bid for and sold to the largest increase on the week.
Lambs sold to a top pf £103 for a pen of heavyweight Bleu du Maine lambs from Messrs J & E Hendry, Rascarrel, Auchencairn. Top price per kilo was 224.4ppkg for a pen of Beltex from Gelston Castle Farms.
Cast sheep were a roaring trade with all classes dearer on the week selling to £115 for Texels from Newmains and Blackfaces to £73 from Bogue.
