The Principal and Chief Executive of Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) has welcomed the organisation’s prominent inclusion in Scotland’s newly published National Innovation Strategy.
In his latest blog post, Professor Wayne Powell said he was “delighted, but not altogether surprised” on seeing the SRUC-led Digital Dairy Chain highlighted as a prime example of an innovation cluster.
Scotland’s National Innovation Strategy says the Digital Dairy Chain, which received £21 million from UK Research & Innovation’s Strength in Places Fund, has helped to cement South-West Scotland as the country’s ‘go to’ region for future investment in high-tech, sustainable and regenerative food production systems.
Prof Powell writes: “We need ideas and concepts but we, as an institution, need to be able to take these ideas and help bring them to fruition – what we need is an innovation and skills ecosystem.
“As anyone who visits our stand at the Royal Highland Show will discover, this is the kind of environment we are building at SRUC, with the Digital Dairy Chain being a fabulous example.”
SRUC can be found at the Royal Highland Show (22-25 June) at Stand 177 on 7th Avenue. To find out more visit the SRUC events page.
