Could we please ask that Vendors get sheep to the Market as early as possible on a Tuesday morning. Clipping is from 8.00am onwards and we would like if sheep were available for them to start at that time
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their weekly sale of 1050 Prime hoggs and cast sheep on Tuesday 8th March 2016.
956 Prime hoggs sold to average 183.49p (SQQ 185.52p). All classes of hoggs were sharper on the week.
Hoggets sold to £107 for Beltex from Messrs Sheddan, Balgerran, Crossmichael. Top price per kilo was for Beltex from McNeill Estate, Shennanton, Kirkcowan at 230.8p per kg.
Cast ewes sold to £94.50 for Texels from M & J Wilson, Barlocco, Greyface to £76 from Boreland of Girthon and Blackface to £72 from Shangan, Dunscore. Tups sold to £96 for Texels again from Barlocco.
