Could we please ask that Vendors get sheep to the Market as early as possible on a Tuesday morning. Clipping is from 8.00am onwards and we would like if sheep were available for them to start at that time
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their weekly sale of 854 Prime Hoggs and Cast sheep on Tuesday 5th April 2016.
754 Prime Hoggs sold to average 174.31p per kg. All classes were fairly similar on the week with a larger show of lightweight hoggs reducing the average. Very few export lambs were forward which also reflected on the average.
Top today was £100 for heavy Texels from Douganhill Farms with others at £99 from the same home. The first lambs of the season were forward with a heavyweight Zwartble from Messrs Duffy, Smiddy Bungalow, Dunragit topping at £92.
A small show of Ewes forward were well up on the week topping at £140 for Texels from Hillside, Blackfaces to £73 and Greyface to £84.50.
