Wallets marts Castle Douglas Limited held their weekly sale of 1983 Prime Lambs and 470 Cast sheep.
1983 prime lambs sold to average 165.77 SQQ (167.21). Again well fleshed lambs were most in demand with, as in other centres, lighter leaner lambs struggling and would realise more as stores. With this in mind there will be a store sale on Saturday 15th October. Top price per head was £86.50 for Texels from J Brown, Drumcoltran and top per kg was 196.6p again for Texels from Drumcoltran.
470 Cast Sheep sold to £91 for BFL Ram from Miefield and Ewes to £83.50 for Texels from Drumcoltran. Blackface to £51.50 Greyface to £63.50.
