WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK SALE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their weekly sale of prime and cast sheep on Tuesday 26th July when they sold 1544 lambs and 231 ewes.
Prime lambs sold to average 180.28ppk SQQ 180.67ppk.
Lambs today sold to a top of £94 twice. Firstly for a pen of heavy Suffolks from Messrs Lindsay, Culnaightrie followed by a pen of Texels from Messrs Young, Hightownhead, Auldgirth. Top price per kilo was 197.4p for a pen of Beltex from Messrs Campbell, Carsewalloch, Creetown.
231 Cast sheep sold slightly sharper on the week with more being required each week. Top was £96.50 for Texels from Cogarth.
