WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK SALE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 26th September 2017 had forward 1695 Prime and Cast Sheep.
1215 prime lambs sold to average 165.54ppk (SQQ 166.66). As has been seen recently well fleshed lambs remain easiest to sell, and well-bred sorts were excellent to sell with many more of these lambs required to meet demand. They sold to a top of 254.7ppk for Beltex realising £109 from Messrs Bunting, Bridgestone with Beltex’s from Messrs Gray, Eastfield, Symington selling to £100 and 232.5ppk.
480 Cast sheep sold cheaper on the week as was seen around the country on Monday selling to £94 for Texels from Upper Hardland.

STORE AND OTM CATTLE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited held their fortnightly sale of Store and OTM cattle on Monday 25th September 2017.
A small show of store cattle topped at £1135 for Luing bullocks off Arbigland Farms and £1100 for Simmental heifers from Park of Tongland. Many of the lots forward were dairy bred which impacted on the trade.
18 OTM cattle were easier on the week selling to 131p for AA cow from Garmartin and £998.22 for another AA cow this time from Trolane. Cast bulls topped at £1404 for a Charolais. Black and white cows sold to 96p off Larglea. Overall average was 100.21p per kg.
