Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Ltd on Tuesday 1st December 2020, had forward 2232 prime and cast sheep.
1964 prime lambs sold to average 211.27ppk achieving an SQQ of 213.4.
A larger show of lambs were forward with these mainly being in the lightweight bracket were on the whole a similar trade on the week. Lightweights were in high demand, regularly achieving 210 – 220 for well finished lambs. These will be required in larger numbers in the forthcoming weeks. Best breed export lambs were often 240+ topping at 262.7 and £114 for outstanding Beltex lambs from Miss Cowie of Copelaw, Gatehouse of Fleet. The same home was favoured with the top price heavy weights at £113 for Texels.
268 cast sheep sold were a nice trade selling to £133 for Suffolks from High Drum with rams to £121 for Texels from Slatehouse. Scotch Mule ewes sold to £80 from Copelaw and Blackface ewes to £79 from Knockreoch, Dalry.
