OTM AND STORE CATTLE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Monday 13 April 2020 had forward 690 OTM and Store cattle.
A grand show of cattle forward with grazing cattle selling away in line with recent sales with stronger cattle keenly bid for despite the downturn in finished prices.
348 bullocks sold to a top price per kilo of 261 for a pen of Limousin bullocks from Messrs Burgess, Maryfield and top per head of £1190 for a pen of cracking outwintered Shorthorn bullocks from Messrs MacMillan & Partners, Holm of Dalquhairn, Dalry.
Heifers sold to a top per kilo of 258.5 for a pen of Limousin again from Maryfield and to a top per head of £1065 for Limousin heifers from Messrs Borthwick, Shangan, Dunscore.
A small show of OTM Cattle sold to a top of £1197.20 from Messrs Robb, Trolane.

WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK SALE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 14th April 2020 had forward 810 prime and cast sheep.
697 prime hoggs sold to average 208.4 (SQQ 213.2) Well fleshed hoggs were easily sold and in some cases sharper on the week.
Top today was £108 for heavy Texel hoggs from Messrs Smith North Boig, New Cumnock. Top per kilo was 259 for Beltex hoggs from Messrs MacTaggart, Craigview.
Blackface hoggs sold to £94.50 for heavyweights from Messrs Jamieson, Garrochtrie selling to 218.1 for a lightweight pen from Messrs Welsh, Lochurr.
Cast sheep were a sound trade although overfat ewes were less money and would be worthwhile marketed before this occurs if possible. Top was £125 for Suffolk ewes from Castlehill. Mules to £99 from Wheatcroft with Blackface to £77.50 (x2) from High Borgue and Castlehill.
